Victoria Coach Station172 Buckingham Palace Road houses Victoria Coach Station and London Transport Police administrative offices. Opened in 1932, Victoria Coach Station is the largest coach station in London.  It offers a range of express and commuter services, day tours, coach holidays and private hire. It has convenient transport links to mainline rail, Underground and bus services. In 2013-14 it carried 14 million passengers!

 

BTU was appointed to design and install new air-conditioning systems incorporating ice storage facilities to the administrative offices within the site.

 


Challenges

 

The main challenge of this project was to work within a live Transport for London operational building which houses the Victoria Coach Station administrative office and administrative offices for the London Transport Police. 

 


Works undertaken

172 Buckingham Palace Road (Victoria Coach Station)

To prepare a survey report which assesses, scopes and costs the work needed to be undertaken for each chiller within the site and to undertake the work as instructed by TfL.

Works undertaken included (but not limited to):

  • Verification of the operational status of each chiller
  • Ice storage tank – replace ice storage tank to description with pictures of work in progress
  • Refurbish and replace valves
  • Provide a water quality survey
  • Update the BMS system
  • Reinstate ice storage functionality to the chilled water control system
